Pet Pantry

Helping our Seniors keep their pets fed, healthy and at home.

Our Pet Pantry is a needs-based program intended to supplement monthly pet food needs and to reduce the financial burden associated with pet care for the low-income senior citizens of Anderson County, TN. Our goal is to keep pets fed, healthy and at home as companions to our seniors as well as keeping them out of local shelters.

AC ARF has teamed up with the Senior Center in Clinton and SARG to provide our county’s low income seniors with pet food, supplies, preventatives and medical care. For The Love of Pets Pantry is based at the Senior Center in Clinton. Donations are distributed on the 2nd Monday of each month to low-income Anderson County seniors.

Contact the Anderson County Office on Aging & Senior Center at (865) 457-3259 to apply for program services. Must meet program qualifications.

For many seniors, a dog or cat is more than a pet. They are family members, providing friendship, joy and a reason to live, and studies have shown that pets lower illness levels and mortality rates. Unfortunately, caring for a pet can be difficult when living on a fixed income at or under the poverty level. Some seniors sacrifice their own needs to keep their pets while others are faced with giving up their pets because they are unable to provide for them, and their beloved pet ends up at the shelter. This needs-based program helps keep people and their companion animals together.
